Bryan Valiquette, the owner of Discovery Bay Homes, is an Architectural Technologist with over 35 years of experience in both residential and commercial construction management and with formal training as a Professional Project Manager. Bryan has demonstrated leadership and expertise in virtually all aspects of the building experience from design to construction to business management. His expertise includes: CADD design, interior design, budgeting/cost control, carpentry, trades management, quality assurance and customer service. This broad experience gives Bryan a unique perspective when it comes to renovating and building homes, condos or commercial space; he understands integrated “building science” in ways that many builders and renovators may not. Bryan is a skilled communicator and relationship manager, recognizing the paramount importance of customer service and client engagement.
Our Process
The home renovation process can be complicated, so we take great care in the details for you to ensure the project goes as smoothly as possible. Every Discovery Bay Homes renovation project follows the same multi-step process to ensure a successful outcome.
Schedule a free consultation
We come to your Greater Victoria home, walk the space, and listen. You describe what you want and we give you an honest assessment on scope of work, timeline, and investment range. No sales pitch, no pressure, no obligation.
Project proposal
We put together a cost budget proposal, listing out what’s included and what things are estimated to cost. If preliminary draft drawings are needed, we provide that as well. An estimated timeline will be provided.
Agreement
A renovation agreement will be provided, with agreed upon timelines, a comprehensive budget expectation and a detailed scope of work, based on our preliminary discussions. Any changes during the project are discussed and approved before they happen.
Design and planning
Now the real fun begins! Meeting with a cabinet supplier, choosing counter tops, tiles, plumbing fixtures, appliances, and all that fun stuff. Discovery Bay Homes will provide you with a personalized shopping list, list of stores to visit, and help you along the way in every way that suites your specific needs. We can use our in-house interior design knowledge, or if need be, we coordinate with a professional interior designer best suited to you.
You’ll get the owner of the company, Bryan, personally managing every aspect of the planning and the work, right from day one through to completion. All design and drafting, coordinating all the selection items, and on-going communication will be dealt with reliably and efficiently. If any building permits or engineering is required, we look after those things as well.
Start demolition & reconstuction
First, we protect any areas or finishes that are to remain. Then we get through the selective demolition and new carpentry work phase. Next is coordinating the plumbing, heating and electrical rough-in work. Drywallers, cabinetry, tile and flooring, woodwork, painting and any other required trade experts, are efficiently moving through the house without any excessive time lag (since we did such a good job in the planning stage!). All the while we are in constant communication on the day-to-day activities going forward.
We manage your remodeling project personally from start to finish. You are not handed off to a sub-crew. The same people who walked your space and gave you the estimate are the ones doing the work every day.
Follow through
We complete a final inspection together, touch up any loose ends, and do final cleaning. Your updated home is all yours!
